The Break Up Artist

January 21, 2024 by James Larson Leave a Comment

In “The Breakup Artist,” Lisa, a professional adept at ending relationships for others, faces the ultimate challenge when she must navigate the complexities and emotional turmoil of her own breakup, testing her beliefs about love, relationships, and her own identity.

LISA: Jack, we need to talk, and honestly, this is the hardest conversation I’ve ever had to start. You know my job, right? The Breakup Artist? Well, here’s the plot twist: I’m completely lost when it comes to us. I’ve always had a plan, a strategy for these moments. But with you, all my expert advice, all my foolproof steps – they just fall apart. Because this… this is real. This is us. I mean, I could do it the textbook way. I could sit here and say, ‘Jack, our time together has been wonderful, but it’s clear our paths are diverging.’ But that’s not us. That’s not me. Not with you. You know what’s at stake here, right? It’s not just about losing you, which is terrifying enough. It’s about my identity. I’m the Breakup Artist, for crying out loud! I’m supposed to have all the answers, to handle this gracefully. But here I am, scrambling for words, trying not to fall apart. This is more than a breakup. It’s like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, and I’m about to lose everything I thought I knew about love, about relationships, about myself. But that’s just it, isn’t it? Love isn’t a science. It’s messy, it’s unpredictable. And our relationship, as beautiful as it’s been, it’s not working. Not like it should. We both know it. So, here it is. The hardest breakup I’ve ever had to do. Not because I’m the Breakup Artist, but because it’s you, Jack. Because it’s us. You’ve been more than a boyfriend; you’ve been my reality check, my wake-up call. And I’ll always be grateful for that. But it’s time. Time for both of us to let go. To move on. Even if it means the Breakup Artist has to start all over again.
