In this monologue from the play, “Last Beginning”, Casey seeks answers from a difficult relationship.
CASEY: You think I don’t know I messed up? You think I don’t wake up crying because of what I did to you?
I can’t go back and change it, so what do you want me to do now? How else can I punish myself, torture myself so you can feel better…
If you can’t get over it, I understand. But I can’t take the not-knowing. It’s tearing me up and I don’t deserve that either. I’m not trying to make this about me. My heart’s… broken, too. I know how sh’tty you feel, I know I hurt you, and it’ll never be the same, and you deserve so much better than me. Is that how you want to do this? Cut each other out like a surgery? My heart’s on the table, and even though it belongs to you, please… just walk away if we can’t stitch this back together.
It’ll be better for both of us. We can’t going like this… I can’t keep going like this… So… do you still love me?
